About the BreatheCon Swag Design Contest
The BreatheCon swag design contest offers adults (18 years of age or older) with cystic fibrosis an opportunity to express themselves artistically and give back to the CF community!
Using the theme “commUNITY: Exploring the healing power of connecting, creativity, and integrating well-being practices into your life,” adults with CF are invited to submit an original creative work of their own design. The winning design will ultimately be chosen by the CF community and will be printed on the BreatheCon 2021 swag.

Why do we do swag (Stuff We All Get)?
Just because BreatheCon is online doesn’t mean it’s not a REAL conference, so every year participants receive swag just like you would at an in-person conference. Must attend BreatheCon to receive swag. Swag is mailed to U.S. residents only.
Contest Theme and Message From the Co-Chairs
Our hope for BreatheCon 2021 is that each and every person walks away feeling the benefits of connection and commUNITY.
CF affects us all in such different ways, but immediately connects us to one another at the same time. Having different life experiences with CF gives us the opportunity to connect and learn from one another through our stories. This year we would like to focus not only on physical health, but also mental and emotional health, as CF impacts all areas of our lives.
Something that has helped us to interpret our unique experiences and bring balance to our lives is creativity and we hope to highlight the benefits of creative expression throughout this year’s event in various ways. We hope that BreatheCon 2021 will provide you with the resources and support you need to reignite your passion to connect, to learn and to create.
Be creative, dive into your imagination and emotions. We can't wait to see what you create!

How to Enter & Contest Rules
All participants must be eligible to attend BreatheCon, meaning you have cystic fibrosis and will be 18 years of age or older by the event start date (September 24, 2021). See contest rules for more information.
Contest is void where prohibited by law. Contest judges and employees of the CF Foundation are ineligible to participate.
You can work with any materials you want, but all contest entries must be entered using the online entry form. You can submit artwork online (as a jpg, jpeg, png, svg, ai, psd, or eps). Due to COVID-19, CF Foundation offices are closed and can not accept mail submissions. The contest is open for entries until Wednesday, June 30, 2021 at 11:59 p.m. Eastern Daylight Time (EDT). The information below will help you get started:
- Create:
- Image must fit within a 7 inch (height) x 10 inch (width) space.
- Limit your submission to three (3) colors.
- You may also incorporate a fourth color, using the blue from the BreatheCon logo. BreatheCon Logo Color Codes (CMYK - C85 M10 Y0 K0, RGB -R0 G153 B215, HEX - #0099D7)
- Consider that the design will be printed on fabric - bold lines will work better than a sketch!
- Sign your artwork! You are welcome and encouraged to include your signature on your submission.
- Artwork must be original and intended solely for the purpose of this contest.
- Write:
In 200 words or less, write an artist statement to tell us a bit more about what you have drawn and how it conveys the theme, “commUNITY: Exploring the healing power of connecting, creativity, and integrating well-being practices into your life.” The description of your artwork will be visible to the public should you become a finalist or win. - Submit:

B. Submit your artwork. Upload your design to the contest site as a .jpg, jpeg, png, svg, ai, psd, or eps.
Submissions will be judged on the following parameters:
- Artistic skill:
Based on artistic merit. - Creativity and originality:
Unique approach to the submission and representation of the contest theme, "commUNITY: Exploring the healing power of connecting, creativity, and integrating well-being practices into your life." - Contest theme communication:
How well the contest theme is expressed in both the artwork and the supporting statement.
All submissions will be kept anonymous through finalist selection and public voting, however, finalists are welcome to promote voting via their personal networks. Contest winner will be required to not share their win publicly until after the official announcement is made on August 23, 2021.
Finalists
Up to six (6) finalists will be selected from all submissions by the judging panel, including the BreatheCon 2021 co-chairs and the CF Foundation communications and community conference staff. Finalists will be notified on or before July 16, 2021 by telephone or email. After the finalists are selected, the public will vote for their favorite submission for a period of two weeks (July 16-31, 2021). These votes will determine the contest winner.
One Winner
The submission receiving the highest number of votes will win. The winner will be notified on August 2, 2021 by telephone or email. The winner will then be announced on August 23 when BreatheCon 2021 registration opens.
The Winner will be featured on the BreatheCon 2021 registration site and BreatheCon 2021 swag. The winner will receive a special goody bag of CF Foundation and BreatheCon 2021 swag including extras with their artwork to share with family and friends.
- Submissions that are not original works intended for the sole purpose of this contest and submissions that contain logos will be disqualified.
- Only one submission per artist. Only the first submission entered for each artist will be considered, and any additional submissions will be disqualified.

- Submissions that appear to be an endorsement of a particular CF treatment or therapy will be disqualified.
